What Thai people eat for breakfast!?

When I have just moved to Italy, I was totally surprised why there is no rice for choices of breakfast in Italy? Because for us, we eat rice in every meal.

It varies from porridge with soft boiled egg and minced pork ball or 'Jauk Moo' to steamed rice in stock with minced pork in mini ball shape, topped with fried garlic or we call 'Khao Tom'.

It might sound very strange to have seafood as the first meal, however, some thai also enjoy sweet treats like fried flour or 'Pa Tong Goh' with fresh soya milk or mini pancake made from coconut milk - 'Kanom Krok'. Yogurts and fruits are also acceptable for some.

Generally we prefer salty food in the morning. Something like charcoal grilled marinated pork stick or ' Moo Ping' with sticky rice that you could grab from smoking charcoal stove at busy street food market or one solid boiled egg stuffed sandwich at 7/11.

However there are some Thai people who enjoy delicate American breakfast which are consisted of eggs and bacon in the morning. Moreover the best breakfast for Thais is something with rice.

Don't be amazed if I'm going to tell you that we sometimes put shrimp or fish inside Kao Tom and we enjoy that heavy salty breakfast very much.

If you want to know what we really eat in the morning, I suggest you to see what are many grand hotels in Thailand are offering at breakfast buffet. Every kinds of taste are synchronized in one meal. Overall, I think breakfast is always an important meal so why not a big one!!

let's enjoy more thai food!
